Workshop on Digital Sovereignty

CEN and CENELEC will host on 24th of February a relevant workshop on the concept of Digital Sovereignty and its possible implications for the European technical standardisation system.  The European Standardisation Organisations (CEN, CENELEC, ETSI) operate nowadays to closely support EU policy and that implies consideration of European sovereignty that cannot be ignored in the current world contest..

Alessandro Guarino is part of the Program Committee and will coordinate one of the round tables at this invitation-only event, furthering the involvement in standardisation.

The workshop will build upon the final report  “CWA 17995/2023 – Digital Sovereignty: European perspectives, general approach, and implications on standardisation.” stemming from a CEN Workshop Agreement and published in 2023.

Among the questions the workshop will discuss:  can we achieve a consistent definition of Digital Sovereignty; what are the different perspectives for different actors; what are the limitations of Digital Sovereignty; what could be the contribution of the standardisation community?

Results of the workshop will be made public in a white paper.
